In addition to research and teaching, I am deeply committed to ensuring students have access to research and career mentorship. As a first-generation Chicana scholar, I possess a firsthand understanding of the systemic challenges students may face and the transformative impact of professional guidance. By fostering an environment of inclusivity and accessibility, I aim to empower the next generation of leaders to navigate their psychology careers with confidence and resilience.

My research examines mental health disparities and resilience in marginalized communities, focusing on interventions that mitigate risks associated with race and gender. By prioritizing participant voices through qualitative and community-based research, I ensure authentic representation while empowering marginalized communities to become active co-creators of the knowledge that impacts their lives.
